Maintaining its pivotal role in the drugs and legal advice field,

Lifeline - a non profit-making organisation and a
registered charity founded in 1971, based in the North of England,
that helps people who use drugs and the families of people who use
drugs. They have offices in Manchester, East Lancashire, West
Yorkshire and Calderdale providing a range of services for drug

The Drug
Education and Prevention Information Service (DEPIS) has an
informative web site. This database is for planners and providers
of drug education and prevention in both school and community

Drug Testing
Young people in Bradford who commit
acquisitive or drugs crime will be
tested from the 1 August 2004. This pilot extends the
current drug testing for adults to young people between the ages
of 14-17years old who will be tested for a Class a drugs in
custody.
The drug test is painless and involves a mouth swab and the
results for
cocaine and heroin use can be found in a few minutes.

- Women's Aid
The Hideout: a new website for children and young
people
Women’s Aid has developed a new national domestic
violence website for children and young people. The website informs
children and young people about domestic violence, helps them to
identify whether it is happening in their home and signposts them to
additional support and information. It uses interactive checklists,
quizzes and games to help children and young people think through
issues that surround domestic violence. The Hideout’s design also
ensures the site can be accessed safely with functions including a
Hide My Visit button and a downloadable safety plan. The site is

Dyslexia
The Leeds and Bradford Dyslexia
Association (LABDA) is a group of parents, teachers and others who
have a keen interest in dyslexia. The Association was
formed in 1987 by two mothers whose children were having
difficulties at school, which was later diagnosed as dyslexia.
Two years later LABDA obtained charity status. Currently,
they have a membership of 120, with a committee made up of parents
and teachers.
